Booking policy: the conditions of your chosen car

The terms displayed in the Localrent booking process and in your confirmation govern the reservation. Conditions can differ by supplier and vehicle.

Reviewed 20 September 2026

Price and payment

Check the total, any advance payment, the balance due at collection and the deposit separately. Add requested extras and pickup charges before comparing offers. Keep a copy of the terms accepted at payment.

Changes and cancellations

Use the contact method in your confirmation to request changes or cancellation. Deadlines, charges and refund arrangements depend on the booking. We do not promise a universal free-cancellation window or an automatic refund for transport delays.

Pickup and return

Meet the driver's age, experience and document requirements. Agree any late pickup or different return location with the supplier. Keep written confirmation of the arrangement and allow time for the vehicle inspection.

Use this explanation alongside the actual booking terms

The following guidance explains how to read and manage a reservation. It adds no cancellation window, refund entitlement, vehicle guarantee or exception to the conditions accepted through the booking service. The terms displayed for the selected offer, the booking confirmation and the applicable rental agreement need to be read together. If they appear inconsistent, ask the responsible service to clarify the specific difference before acting. Vrenty Car is an independent publisher and Localrent affiliate, so an explanation here cannot approve a booking amendment or replace the instructions issued for the vehicle you have reserved.

Keep a dated copy of the offer and terms you accept, together with the confirmation and any later approved changes. This creates a useful record of the arrangement at each stage. A current public page may describe terms differently from material you saved earlier, and a general destination description may not include the conditions of your particular car. Rather than deciding from memory which statement applies, identify the documents associated with your reservation and ask for clarification where necessary. The aim is to make the question precise enough to answer, not to create your own interpretation of an unclear contractual priority.

Separate information from an action. Reading a cancellation explanation does not cancel a reservation, browsing a different car does not replace it, and sending a request does not establish that the request has been accepted. Look for the confirmation or response produced by the relevant process. A practical booking record can have three parts: the current confirmed arrangement, the changes you have requested and the replies received. Keeping those parts distinct helps when plans are unsettled, because you can see what remains active without assuming that a preferred outcome has already been approved by the booking service or supplier.

Distinguish the rental price from other money requirements

Read the price as a breakdown of the selected arrangement. Identify the rental period, included items, requested extras and any agreed collection or return services. Then separate the amount payable during booking from the remaining rental balance. The security deposit is another category and should be recorded separately. If a quote combines items in a way you do not understand, request an itemised explanation before payment. A prominent daily figure is not enough to evaluate the commitment when the journey also depends on delivery, equipment or a different return point whose treatment has not been made clear.

Payment eligibility and payment timing are different questions. Check which methods are accepted for the advance payment, balance and deposit, and whether the main driver must present a particular physical card at collection. Having enough money in an account does not resolve a mismatch with the accepted method or cardholder requirement. Likewise, successful payment of an advance does not establish that every requirement at the handover has been satisfied. If a condition is essential to your choice, such as acceptance of a debit card, obtain confirmation for the selected offer and keep it with the other booking records.

Use a simple personal budget that distinguishes amounts spent from funds that may need to remain available. This makes it easier to compare an offer with a lower rental total but a less convenient deposit arrangement against another offer you can use more comfortably. Do not assign a universal meaning to labels such as no deposit or additional cover without reading the associated conditions. Check the excess, exclusions and incident procedure separately. The deposit and insurance guide explains these categories, but the exact amounts and applicable procedures must come from the offer and documents for your own reservation.

Treat driver and document requirements as booking conditions

An offer is useful only if the intended driver can meet its requirements. Check the selected car's minimum age and driving experience conditions, the accepted licence requirements and the identification requested at pickup. Where the licence format raises a question about an International Driving Permit or translation, resolve it before travel through appropriate official and supplier guidance. Do not assume that a requirement disappears because payment has been taken or because a similar car was rented elsewhere. Eligibility is part of selecting the offer, and the main driver should personally review the conditions that apply to them.

Keep the booking details consistent with the person who will collect and drive. A holiday organiser may enter information or make arrangements for the group, but the reservation still needs to reflect the intended main driver and accepted payment arrangement. If the name, licence details or proposed driver changes, use the relevant amendment process and obtain confirmation. Do not simply send a different person to the meeting point with the voucher. That can leave the supplier unable to complete the handover under the existing arrangement, even if the replacement driver believes they meet general rental requirements.

Additional drivers need their own agreed status under the rental. Ask how they are added, what documents they must provide and whether any charge applies. Record the answer and verify the driver entries at handover. For example, a hypothetical group might plan to share a longer excursion between two adults, while only one person is named in the original reservation. The practical solution is to clarify the additional driver arrangement before relying on shared driving. This example does not establish a universal fee or approval process; it shows why the actual list of authorised drivers matters to the trip plan.

Know when a request becomes a confirmed arrangement

Port collection, hotel delivery, child seats and other extras may be important enough to determine whether the rental works for you. Ask how each item is confirmed and where it should appear in the booking documents. A message stating a preference is not necessarily the same as an accepted service. If the booking interface or reply leaves the status unclear, request a direct answer before building the itinerary around it. Use the exact requirement: a particular meeting location, a suitable seat arrangement or space for specific luggage is easier to address than a broad request for a convenient family car.

Read a special arrangement as a complete set of details. For delivery, that includes the agreed place, time, access instructions and any charge. For equipment, it includes what is being supplied and any relevant conditions. For a return at another location, it includes acceptance of the combination and the return procedure. A single reassuring sentence may leave an essential part unresolved. Keep related replies together so a later confirmation can be checked against the request. Where something changes, make sure the updated arrangement is clear rather than leaving several versions of the plan scattered across messages.

Consider a hypothetical traveller who requests hotel delivery because their accommodation is away from the proposed city meeting point. If the supplier confirms only Durrës collection, the hotel request remains unresolved; it should not be treated as accepted because the city name matches. The traveller should ask for the exact location before deciding how to reach the car. The same reasoning applies to a port reference that does not identify a meeting point. The booking policy on this page does not promise that any requested service will be available. It encourages you to distinguish the service you want from the arrangement actually confirmed.

Read cancellation conditions before transport plans change

Cancellation terms deserve attention while you are choosing an offer, especially if ferry, flight or accommodation plans are still flexible. Find the conditions applicable to the selected reservation and identify any deadline, charge, retained amount or optional cancellation feature. Read what the condition applies to rather than relying on a short label. A reference to free cancellation may have qualifications, and it should not be expanded into a promise about every payment or every reason for cancelling. The conditions displayed in the actual booking process are the source for the decision, supported by clarification from the booking service where needed.

Check how the deadline is expressed, including the relevant date, time and any stated time basis. If that is ambiguous, ask before relying on your own calculation. Transport disruptions can be stressful, and understanding the process in advance reduces the number of decisions required during a change. Keep the cancellation instructions with the voucher so you do not have to search for them while travelling. This preparation does not create a right to cancel outside the agreed conditions. It helps you use the correct process promptly when you have decided what action to request.

Compare flexibility as part of the offer rather than as a separate assumption about the destination. A hypothetical traveller with uncertain arrival plans may value terms that suit that uncertainty, while someone with settled plans may evaluate the same condition differently. Neither situation establishes a universal best option. Consider what money is at stake, how likely you are to change the rental and what alternative transport would involve. Vrenty Car does not promise a general free cancellation period or automatic refunds when a ferry or flight changes. The outcome must be assessed under the reservation's applicable conditions and the response of the responsible service.

Make a cancellation request clear and traceable

When you decide to request cancellation, use the method specified in the confirmation or current official booking instructions. Identify the reservation clearly and state the action you are requesting. A question about what cancellation would cost is different from an instruction to cancel, so avoid wording that leaves your intention ambiguous. Keep a copy of what you sent and the time it was sent. Do not assume that closing a browser page, ignoring the collection or telling an unrelated travel business changes the status of the car booking. Use the channel responsible for processing that reservation.

Read the reply and check whether it confirms cancellation or only acknowledges receipt of your message. If it describes a financial outcome, compare that explanation with the relevant booking conditions and ask about any item you do not understand. Retain the cancellation confirmation and associated transaction references. A refund being described as approved, issued or received may refer to different stages, so ask which stage the message means rather than treating every status word as equivalent. This guidance sets no processing deadline and makes no promise about payment timing; the responsible service and payment provider supply the relevant information.

If you are cancelling only because you want another car or different dates, first understand how the proposed change is handled. You may need instructions from the booking service, and a different offer may no longer be available when you return to the search. Avoid creating duplicate commitments in the hope that one will disappear automatically. In a hypothetical date change, the useful sequence is to establish the current reservation's status, understand the available amendment process and costs, then act on the chosen arrangement. Keep the old and new confirmations distinct so you can verify which reservation remains active.

Request date, location and driver changes precisely

Describe a proposed amendment with the existing arrangement and the desired replacement. Include the exact pickup and return dates, times or locations affected, and explain any linked requirement such as equipment or an additional driver. This gives the service enough information to assess the whole request. Asking whether a rental can be more flexible is less useful than naming the change you need. Do not assume that moving one end of the rental leaves every other condition untouched. Availability, the rental total, delivery arrangements or the applicable process may need to be reconsidered for the revised booking.

Ask which steps are required to make the change effective and what happens to the existing reservation during the process. Follow the booking service's instructions rather than assuming that an edit can be made directly or without charge. Keep any revised quote or explanation before accepting it, and check the new confirmation when issued. The new details should match what you requested, including the return arrangement and essentials that were confirmed earlier. If an item has disappeared from the updated record, raise it promptly. A successful date change is incomplete for your purposes if it leaves an essential collection detail unresolved.

Extensions during the rental require the same clarity. Contact the responsible service before the current return deadline and ask whether the proposed additional period is available. Receiving no reply does not amount to consent, and staying longer at your accommodation does not extend the vehicle booking. In a hypothetical coastal stay, an extra night might also change the return location or equipment needs. Explain the complete proposal so the supplier can respond to the actual plan. Until an amendment is confirmed, use the current agreement as the reference for your obligations and organise your travel accordingly.

Handle ferry and flight delays as a separate coordination problem

A transport delay changes your arrival circumstances, but it does not automatically rewrite the rental reservation. Contact the supplier using the details on the voucher as soon as you have useful information. State the original collection arrangement, the revised transport information and when you expect to provide a further update if the timing remains uncertain. Ask how the handover should now work and whether any charge or other condition applies. Keep the reply. Giving a flight or ferry reference at booking is helpful context, but it should not be treated as a promise that the supplier will track or accommodate every change.

Separate the practical request from any cancellation or refund question. You may still want the car at a later time, need to collect elsewhere or decide the rental no longer fits the journey. Say which outcome you are asking about. If several transport options are possible, explain what is confirmed and what remains tentative. This helps avoid a situation where a supplier interprets a vague delay message as a settled arrival plan. The rental and transport bookings have their own conditions; a message from the ferry operator or airline does not establish the financial outcome of changing the car reservation.

Read the no-show and late arrival provisions relevant to your booking before travel. If you cannot reach the supplier, use the official assistance route associated with the reservation and retain a record of your contact attempts. This does not guarantee an exception or remove a charge; it creates an accurate account of what you communicated. For a port arrival, also confirm whether a revised time affects the meeting location or access instructions. Do not head to an old meeting point merely because it appears on an earlier screenshot when the supplier has issued a different confirmed arrangement.

Resolve discrepancies before leaving the collection point

At pickup, compare the handover documents with the confirmed booking. Look at the named drivers, rental period, payment breakdown, deposit arrangement and return instructions. Check that essential extras are present and that the car can meet the practical requirements you agreed. If the offered vehicle differs from the reservation, ask how the applicable terms address the situation and how the change will be documented. This page creates no substitution or upgrade guarantee. The useful action is to identify the difference clearly and seek an explanation through the supplier or booking service before assuming that it is acceptable for your trip.

A discrepancy can be practical even when the replacement is described favourably. Transmission, passenger access, luggage space and the confirmed equipment may matter more to your group than a category label. Explain the requirement that is affected and refer to the relevant confirmation. Avoid making a new payment or signing an unclear entry simply because the arrival has taken longer than expected. Ask what the document means and request an accurate record of the agreed arrangement. If the issue cannot be resolved at the handover, use the official help route for the booking and keep the supporting information organised.

Inspect the vehicle condition separately from the reservation details. Photograph existing marks, compare them with the handover record and ask for omissions to be recorded. Check the fuel indication and any other readings relevant to the rental. If you disagree with a condition entry, describe the specific point rather than making a broad statement that everything is wrong. Clear photographs and precise notes are easier to discuss later. They do not predetermine responsibility or the outcome of a dispute, but they preserve useful information about the car and documents at the moment the handover took place.

Keep itinerary changes within the permitted use

The ability to drive to a place on a map is different from permission to use the rental on that route. Review the current permitted road and region conditions for the chosen offer, especially before a longer excursion. Stay on paved permitted roads and do not interpret an SUV booking as off-road approval. A route can also have restrictions beyond its surface. If a planned approach is unclear, ask the supplier before travelling and choose an alternative that fits the agreement when necessary. General tourism information explains a destination's appeal; it does not amend the conditions governing your vehicle.

Cross-border travel needs explicit advance clarification. Name each intended country and ask about eligibility, required documents, fees and any relevant cover conditions. Do not assume that an available road crossing, a navigation route or your own travel documents establish permission for the rented vehicle. Keep the supplier's response with the booking records and check that it addresses the actual itinerary. If approval is missing, plan within the confirmed permitted area. This page offers no general permission for travel outside Albania, and it does not establish that every supplier or vehicle can support the same international route.

Other changes in use deserve attention too, including who will drive or how the vehicle will be returned. Ask before introducing an arrangement that the agreement does not cover. If a problem or incident occurs, follow the supplier's reporting instructions and obtain the required records rather than relying on a general description of insurance. Contact the responsible service before arranging repairs yourself. Keep your account factual and preserve relevant messages and documents. A cover label is not a substitute for following the applicable procedure, and editorial guidance cannot determine whether a particular event will be accepted under the selected terms.

Understand return charges and deposit follow-up separately

Plan the return around the confirmed time, location and procedure. Check the fuel requirement and the treatment of any relevant mileage or equipment conditions in your agreement. If you want to return early or at another place, ask how that will be handled before acting. An early return does not by itself establish a refund, and a convenient alternative location is not automatically authorised. Allow room for the inspection and onward travel. The practical return and any financial adjustment are related but separate questions, both of which should be addressed through the supplier's agreed process.

Take clear return photographs and retain the handover record, fuel receipts and any explanation of additional items. If a charge appears, ask what it relates to and how it follows from the applicable conditions. Distinguish a rental balance, a service charge, a damage issue and a deposit movement rather than treating every amount as the same event. That distinction makes a follow-up request more precise. Ask for supporting information where needed and keep the response with the booking. This page does not set a list of possible charges or declare that a particular charge is justified without the reservation's facts.

Clarify how the deposit is concluded for your specific payment arrangement and who can confirm its status. A release instruction and the appearance of funds or available credit may be different stages, so ask what has actually happened. Keep any relevant transaction reference and contact the responsible payment provider when appropriate to understand its records. Do not rely on another traveller's experience as a promised timeline. Vrenty Car cannot release a supplier's deposit or inspect a bank account. The useful follow-up identifies the booking, the deposit method, the documented return and the precise status you are asking the responsible service to explain.

Build a focused request when an issue remains unresolved

Choose the contact associated with the issue: the booking service for its reservation or payment process, and the supplier for the vehicle and handover matters it handles. Start with the reservation reference and a brief description of the outcome you are seeking, such as clarification of a charge or confirmation of a requested amendment. Add the relevant sequence of events and attach only the records needed to explain it. A clear request gives the recipient something specific to investigate. Avoid sending full payment details, identity documents or unrelated personal information when a booking reference and the relevant record are sufficient.

If the first reply does not address the question, identify the unanswered point and refer to the supporting document. For example, ask how a particular invoice item relates to the agreed return arrangement rather than repeating the entire holiday history. Keep copies of the correspondence and distinguish an explanation from a decision or completed transaction. Follow the official process supplied by the responsible service for further review. This guidance does not create a complaints deadline, compensation promise, jurisdiction clause or waiver of rights. Any formal issue needs to be assessed under the actual agreement and the applicable circumstances.

Before closing the matter, check that you understand the current status of both the reservation and any outstanding payment. Keep the relevant documents for your own records according to your needs. For a future rental, turn the experience into a more precise question at the comparison stage: how is this delivery confirmed, what is the deposit method, or what happens if the arrival time changes? The purpose of this explanatory policy page is to help you navigate those decisions. It supports the existing booking facts while leaving contractual commitments and individual outcomes with the terms and services responsible for the reservation.
